This 46' custom steel hull yacht has the look, design and comfort of a serious blue water trawler. She has never been officially cruised, but has been under 'construction' for 8 years. Almost every component is new, never used.
Price has been discounted to attract a buyer willing to finish this nearly complete yacht.
Have the boatyard finish her for about $15,000, or finish yourself. Then enjoy cruising, or turn around and sell for double your money. I have a list of what remains to be done to complete her that I'll furnish to serious inquirers.
She's equipped with twin Detroit's in a stand-up engine room, two staterooms with baths, salon, galley with dinette, pilot house and flybridge.
What makes this vessel so special is the variety of ornamental metal work designed and built by her designer/owner. A ship's figurehead showcases the unique work.
When you pull into port, heads will turn.
If you have always wanted a used 46 Nordhavn but didn't want to pay the Nordhavn price, this boat may be for you. She has the look, design and comfort of a serious blue water trawler but at a price far less than a Nordhavn.
The Metalmorphisis has an interesting history. Her keel was actually laid in 1982 but the original owner never finished the boat; rather the hull was discarded on land, left to rust away. You can view her as she was found below. The current owner, a metal works artist by trade, rescued her hull in 2001 and began the task of designing and building his yacht.
Almost every component is new, never used. New paint, new air conditioning, new thru hulls; the list keeps going.
She has a steel hull, twin Detroit 671s, two staterooms with private heads, pilothouse, flybridge, salon, galley, stand-up engine room with workbench and a separate equipment room. The entire yacht interior woodwork is finished with American cedar.
Many handmade, unique features, like the Ship's Figurehead, adorn this boat. Heads will turn when you pull into port.
Owner would be willing to consider trading for a smaller boat
Vessel Walkthrough
The yacht is accessed from doors on either side of the pilothouse. The flybridge is accessed by a ladder at the rear of the pilothouse.
In the bow, you will find the guest stateroom with twin bunk beds. Aft of the guest stateroom on the starboard side in the head; immediately across is the bath. Further aft up a small flight of stairs is the salon, galley and dinette, all up. A sole access panel in the salon gives access to the huge equipment room.
Down several stairs aft of the salon is the master suite. The bath lies to starboard and the double bunk is on the port side. A door on the aft stateroom bulkhead gives access to the engine room.
An important note; the entire boat has been insulated with automotive foam, the same material behind your car's headliner. This dampens sound and keeps the comfort levels desirable.
Decks - Ship's Figurehead
The feature is likely the most frequently photographed object in the marina.
This mermaid is roughly the size of a life-sized petite woman.
She was envisioned by the owner to make his vessel different; after all when did you last see a ship's figurehead?
The figure was first sculpted by hand using over 500 lbs. of clay. A mold was then cast of the clay figure.
Finally the finished sculpture was then hand-laid in the mold using resin and fiberglass cloth.
The lady was completed by painting to look of tarnished bronze.
It took over 3 years to complete these sculptures.
Equipment Room
The equipment room is located beneath the salon accessible by the stairs in the photo.
The equipment room houses the
- huge amount of spare parts and fasteners.
- The blue cabinet contains a full assortment of stainless steel screws, bolt, washers and nuts in various sizes.
Look at how clean the bilges are on this yacht!
2000 lbs of lead is in bilge for ballast
All through hulls in boat are new.
Note: The large I beam that the generator is resting on is the keel of the boat.
