7 Foot Depths with 1000 Feet of Dockage

The Tiger Point boat yard is located on a natural, protected deep water creek adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The creek provides 7 feet of water at low tide, providing adequate depths for deep draft vessels.

Over 1000 feet of floating concrete docks are available for customers.  Electrical service, both 50 and 30 amp, is provided.  Water is also located on the docks.

Tiger Point is a frequent port of call for foreign registered vessels

Hurricane Protection and Storage

Tiger Point is the first boat yard in the US to purchase and begin using the Marine Travelift, a new boat handling system designed to enable pre-engineered cradles to be used for movement and storage of large boats for hurricane protection.

Two of the major reasons for using this system are to provide customers long-term storage and hurricane protection on land for their boats.

Tiger Point commonly stores many large boats for out-of-state owners during the summer months, then returns the boats to the water when the owners return in the fall.

The boats are locked in the cradles and if high winds occur, the boats will not move.  Additional tie-downs can be used to secure both the boat and cradle to the ground if conditions warrant.

Not only does the system give boat owners piece of mind during hurricane season, insurance companies endorse the safer storage process also.

Bottom Painting

Bottom painting is one of those jobs that has to be completed about every 24 months in salt water, whether you want to or not.

Tiger Point does many of these annually.  A complete bottom job will include hauling of the boat, pressure washing, scraping as needed, running gear inspection, two coats of antifouling paint of your choice, new zincs and launching of your boat.

This is a job often completed as a do-it-your-self boat project.

Tiger Point welcomes do-it-your-selfers; they will do as much or as little of your project for you as you wish.

Fiberglass Repairs

Fiberglass repairs usually involve correcting small cracks or fissures in the gel coat.  But occasionally, larger repairs are made.

The process involves initially cutting or grinding away the damaged glass and resin.

The void is then filled with West Systems epoxy mixed with the appropriate filler and or glass cloth or mat.

The repair is then sanded and usually completed with a fresh coat of marine paint.

Tiger Point has technicians on staff that have new-boat fiberglass layup experience.  They know how to do the job right!

Whatever the extent of your fiberglass repair needs, they can meet your needs.

Woodworking and Carpentry

The majority of traditional boat interior wood is teak. It is quite handsome and gives the yacht a sophisticated look to it.

But with boats, windows sometimes leak. When that occurs, you may have a significant repair to make after stopping the leak.

If your plans include selling your boat, damaged wood will hinder the sale.

Repairing yacht wood interiors is a skill few people have.  It takes the knowledge of woods, adhesives, stains and the proper application of varnish to make the job look acceptable.

Tiger Point can assist in those cosmetic repairs to your boat's interior.   They can also build cabinetry to match your boat's current interior.

Topside Painting

Nothing can turn heads faster than a glossy paint job on a yacht's topsides.

If your boat has lost her factory shine from years in the sun, Tiger Point can assist you.

Equipped with a 35' x 60' x 32' paint booth, the yard can accommodate most vessels that can be hauled at the yard.

Awlgrip, Sterling (Detco), Interlux; you name your choice of paint and the skilled technicians at Tiger Point will have your boat looking like new.

Blister Repairs

Few things will scare a boat buyer quicker than to hear the word "blisters".

Few things will stop your boat from selling any faster than to have buyers hear your boat has blisters.

But what are blisters and how do they affect your boat's hull?  You can read all about them in detail at the website of the owner of this trawler in the photo, the MV Patricia Ann.

For now, lets just agree that blisters are the result of hydrolysis (water) in the hull's fiberglass.

They will never go away and only get worse; perhaps causing structural problems if left untreated.

Tiger Point can correct the problem by peeling the gel coat from the hull, drying the boat's hull and  applying 5 epoxy barrier coats to the hull.

All done in a professional manner, using the latest products at an affordable price.
At the time of this photo, the boat had been drying for 29 days.  The numbers show the moisture content in the hull.
